Illumimote – Multi-Modal and High Fidelity Light Sensor Model for Wireless Sensor Networks

· Study by students and members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
· Illumimote is a light sensing module for wireless sensor networks that “supports three different light sensing modalities: incident light intensity, color intensities, and incident light angle”, and “two situational sensing modalities: attitude and temperature”.
· A goal is to provide improved sensing quality in areas such as film, video production, and lighting control applications
· Based on their tests the Illumimote performance is comparable to commercial light meters and color meters
· Future work includes enhancements and further development of the Illumimote
